It's all so new! Fine art doll making and me.

Hello readers! I am beginning a blog at the urging of the authors of several books I am reading about how to become known in the world and on Etsy. I am a lifetime visual artist and teacher who was swept away by a passion for making fine art dolls when I spotted an image of the most beautiful doll I had ever seen in the pages of Where Women Create, while standing in a very long lineup at Michael's. The artist whose work brought about my epiphany is Anna Brahms, a world famous dollmaker for the last 30 years. Her fairies and  woodland folk are truly magical and enchanting.
Lucky for me, I am living in the age of the internet, so I was able to search the web for images, advice and tutorials on all aspects of the making of fine art dolls. Who knew that the world held so many devoted doll enthusiasts and creators? I have pursued the creation and refinement of many different types of dolls, in many different mediums, for the last three years. I feel that I am finally coming into my own style, so I have taken my heart in my hands and am opening (soon) an Etsy store, offering some of my dolls for sale to the world.
Because I am also a visual artist, I have named this blog, as well as my Etsy store, Arts of Delight. I think I will be telling you all about the various artistic paths I follow, not just my current passion for dolls.
I live in a medium sized town not far from Toronto, Ontario, where I work in a studio overlooking a park with a splash pool that has suddenly become populated with happy children and their grownups. After a working life that encompassed many diverse occupations, from accounting clerk, to draftsman, to waitress, and finally high school art teacher, I am now at liberty to pursue my heart's desire. Making art whenever I want!
If you are someone who likes to make dolls, I hope you will find this blog of interest to you.
